Wiki not taking off.
January 30, 2008
I’ve had lots of “Tommy the Traveler” researchers in for class, but none of them have posted on the wiki yet. My daughter tells me that no one wants to be the first. I was trying to encourage the students who were in yesterday to kick it off, but no luck so far.

It is kind of like blogging… once you have a critical mass, people start writing in & responding. So you may want to get your own archival students to post basic questions or information just to get it started. Maybe that will help… hope so!

Maybe you should assign small groups to write individual sections, like a group project. It’s meant to be collaborative anyway.
I think there’s a ton of potential in wikis for classroom use – we just have to treat them as a new type of medium.
